Does it crash when to try to install it?

        If so, try this method:

Once the disc image is opened, press Command+Shift+. (dot sign) keys. All invisible files will become visible.

Inside the disc image you will see the Parallels Desktop app (if not, just stretch the window).

Copy this app into the wherever you want, but if you have installed an older version of Parallels, don’t replace it yet.

This app is still flagged as “invisible”, then we need to change this attribute:

        Open Terminal and write

        chflags nohidden

leaving a blank space, drag the Parallels Desktop app over the Terminal window, then hit Enter.

The app should be now flagged as visible again – just try to press the Command+Shift+. keys again to see if the app remains visible as well – If not, repeat the command in Terminal.

Run Parallels. In the case the app will not open yet, then write this command on Terminal:

        xattr -d com.apple.quarantine

again, leaving a blank space, drag the Parallels Desktop app over the Terminal window, then hit Enter.

Now you can run Paralles smoothly, and you can drag the app on the Application folder, eventually replacing the older one.

              @Alex

How can the “The copy of Parallels Desktop may not be genuine …” be blocked or eliminated?

I’m sorry, this is something out of my reach.

My knowledge on patching apps is about zero.

However, I guess the message cannot be removed at all. Perhaps Parallels checks itself online if its activation key is valid, and when it find no match, then it displays this message.

Maybe someone else can bring a better answer or let us know if there’s a method to remove that message once and for all.

            1.— Open Terminal

2a.— If your copy of Parallels Deskop is located in the Applications folder:

            chflags nohidden /Applications/Parallels\ Desktop.app

            3a.— Enter

2b.— If If your copy of Parallels Deskop is located elsewhere:

            chflags nohidden /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Users/[YOU]/[ELSEWHERE]/Parallels\ Desktop.app

Replace [YOU[ with your account name, and [ELSEWHERE] with the path or folder (I suggest to place Parallels Desktop on the Desktop).

            3b.— Enter

Can y’all posting it doesn’t work indicate your OS version? First post there says it’s not working on High Sierra, which is an old OS, suggesting older hardware.

That said, the Parallels stated system requirements (below) do include High Sierra. I’m still curious.

      Hardware

A Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, Core i9, Intel Core M or Xeon processor
Minimum 4 GB of memory, 16 GB is recommended
500 MB for Parallels Desktop application installation
Additional disk space for the guest operating system (at least 16 GB is required for Windows 10)
SSD drive is recommended for better performance
Internet connection for product activation and select features

      Software

macOS Big Sur 11.0 (when released)
      macOS Catalina 10.15
      macOS Mojave 10.14
      macOS High Sierra 10.13
DirectX 11 requires at least macOS Mojave 10.14, but works best on macOS 10.15.3 Catalina or newer.

Further to my earlier post, I’ve installed this and it’s up-and-running my Windows VM no problem. I’ve got Catalina on a Late 2013 rMBP.

I’ll report back if I run into the “may not be genuine” nag, or any other license problems, but so far so good.

Crashes on latest version of Catalina.
Not going to go through all the BS that Chris and Alex tells you to to install this!

@Aaron There’s no BS I’m saying anyone needs to do to install.

It simply installs and works as intended with my Windows 7 VM on my late 2013 rMBP (2.6ghz i5 w 8GB) w/ Catalina 10.15.5. If you want to try it, and it works for you too, great. Otherwise you can just roll back to whatever version you were using previously.

Clearly some people are having problems. It would be helpful if people would post as much detail about the setup they’re having trouble with, to help guide others. What specs on your Mac, what “latest” version of Catalina are you on, and what OS VM are you trying to run?

      Good luck!

        You are right Chris.

I wasn’t thinking about telling that I installed Parallels using the method I wrote here on macOS Catalina 10.15.6, and it works perfectly.

While the install works, I tried your instruction for Terminal:

      xattr -d com.apple.quarantine
and the “This copy of Parallels Desktop may not be genuine. ….” did not pop up all night yesterday.

Unfortunately, this “Get Genuine Copy” pop up is on again this morning. As I am typing this. I am running Windows 10 Pro for Workstations with all the latest updates. Mac OS Catalina 10.15.6

Do you have another suggestion to rid this pop-up? Thanks

MacMini late 2014 on Catalina. I’ve made a clean fresh install with no problems at all here. (I had a previous version before, but completely uninstalled and deleted all files).
Didn’t need to use any of the tricks listed on other comments. Parallels and Parallel Tools were installed very easily.
TIP: I always right click + open / and turn Wi-Fi off when I install this kind of stuff (not sure if this will help anyone).

      Hi everyone,

I had Parallels 15 and each time I used it was fine. This version keeps asking me to sign in.

      How do I bypass it?

      Let me know!
